I do bi-weekly photo columns of the region where I live, Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Quebec, Canada. I thought I would share with my gardening friends these lovely fields of lavender and sunflowers gardens for inspiration.
Fields of Dreams (The 1019 Report edition august 18) From lavender to sunflowers and corn mazes, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region has so many wonderful fields of dreams for you and your family to explore. For enchantment, the lavender fields at Champs de Rêves in Vaudreuil-Dorion near St. Lazare at the junction of Bédard St. and Highway 40 will truly mesmerize all your senses with its charms, spectacular colours, plants, flowers and its multitudes of various giant mosaic plant sculptures.
The wonderment of the fields will transport you to another place and time. For another amazing and unique experience, the Verge Labonté in Notre Dame de l’Île Perrot has just opened its new Sherlock Holmes (London 1886) mysteries and investigations “Who done it” maze fields. Watson welcomes you to three corn and sunflower mazes that are adapted to suit different age groups, including adults.
On your way out, be sure to stop by the farmers’ shops for fresh local produce and home-baked goodies and more. Enjoy nature and the beautiful views while eating what you bought, or your own picnics. Either way, it’s a great way to spend a day. As the heat wave continues, remember to bring water with you on your field trips! Enjoy!
